Are You Ready? Are You Prepared? Are You Positioned to Prosper?
My family and I moved to the city of Lithonia in the year 2000. We used to invite friends over and we joked about being involved in city government. I must say this again. We joked about being involved in city government. I really did not consciously pursue being in city government or any political position, but I have recently been elected to sit on the city council in my town. I was focused on my career and serving in ministry. I had no idea that God was preparing me for what I will be stepping into in January 2008.
In the past seven years, my family has experienced extreme highs and unimaginable lows. But through it all God was getting us ready, preparing and positioning us to prosper. And, I would like to take this time today and remind you that He is doing the same for you.
The end of a cycle is completing and a new beginning is on the horizon. Are you ready? It's time to reflect over your life for the past seven years. What have you been doing? What disappointment has actually been working for your good? What attack has the enemy sent to you that was for evil but is working for your good? Can you look back and see that God has been preparing and positioning you to prosper?
Webster's definition of prosper is to succeed in an enterprise or activity, especially: to achieve economic success or to become strong and flourishing: to cause to succeed or thrive.
I ask you today when you look back over your life for the past seven years are you stronger, are you flourishing, has the path of life caused you to succeed? If the answer is yes, you are ready, you are prepared, and you are positioned to prosper. If you are not sure that you can answer these questions affirmatively, then I suggest you take the next 40 days to get ready. Stop right now and begin to reflect. Think about your life, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Can you find a light? Can you see that you are still on the breathing end of life? It's not over. Take a positive look to all of your circumstances because all things are working for your good.
There are less than 25 days until the New Year. You can drive it or it can drive you; it's your choice. Choose to prosper today. There is a new beginning coming in your life. Prepare yourself now. One year ago I was working on the conclusion for my new book. And I could not finish it because I was waiting on God to do something. I was waiting on the crisis to end. I was waiting for the situation to turn around. But God spoke clearly to me and said, "Write the conclusion the way you want the story to end." I sat down and began to write. I started to dream. I used my imagination. And today, a year later, the circumstances are different. I am a newly elected public official. But it took me taking a different look at a bad situation, and in less than a year it has turned around. You can do the same. When I began to understand that what I was going through was not about me but it was preparing me for God's destiny for my life, then I could find the strength to keep going, to keep moving and so can you. Do it today! Take the time to rewrite the script of your life.
