I once heard a saying that it's the things you learn after you think you know it all that matter the most. Well, when it comes to building businesses and creating effective marketing strategies, I think I know a lot. (That's a nice way of saying I think I know it all! LOL!)

But still, I continue to invest in myself to get access to other smart teachers, mentors, and marketers so that I can learn more! Last year I took almost three months off and still doubled my business. You would think that I pretty much have it all figured out and don't need any more help, right? But instead of just coasting, I'm pushing myself even harder this year. In fact, I have invested in myself to be in four high-level mastermind groups and coaching programs that I know will help me "learn new things after I think I know it all!"

Why am I telling you this? For three reasons.

  1. 1. Most people try to "build a new shed using old tools."

I noticed that one of the things that holds most service professionals from reaching their financial goals is not having enough marketing savvy and stubbornly trying to build their business using their limited know-how. Big mistake.

  2. We don't value what we don't pay for.

The payment doesn't necessarily mean only money, but when things come to us too easily we ignore them. Two points on this: One, I know you probably listen to a lot of free teleseminars, read free e-zines, blogs, plenty of free information - but how much of what you learn do you implement? (My point exactly!)

And two, one of the groups I joined this year is run by a friend of mine whom I can talk with anytime I want. So why did I invest in his program? (And it wasn't a small investment!) Because I wanted to make sure I really HEAR AND LISTEN to everything he tells me during our consultations! With money and time on the line, you bet, I make sure to pay attention and implement!

  3. Success leaves clues. When I evaluate what got me to where I am today, and what has helped many of my friends and clients reach their current level of success, the answer is always the same: investing in ourselves and getting access to top level mentors and advisors.

Evaluate how you spend your time and money, and notice how much of it you are willing to invest to get access to folks who can take you where you want to go faster and with less effort.
